Why I am an everyday hero

         I believe that every day I am a hero. I'm not exactly dexterous at what I do to make the world a better place but I do the best that I can. I'm very passionate about animals and I've helped as many as I could in my life. A lot of my pets were rescues. I think these skills are optimum as well. I love helping animals and giving them good homes. Last year I was walking home with my mom and I heard faint noises from a wall covered in thorns. To my surprise, they were newborn kittens. My mother and I collaborated and helped rescue them. I was so scared because I had no idea what to do but eventually I got them out and my mother let me take them home. They were a huge hassle. They cried for food every hour and I always had to make sure they all relieved themselves at least every 2 hours. It went on for an entire week and obviously I lost a lot of sleep and didn't go out very much at all because if I wasn't around to take of them who will? I had to do something so I drove to a non-kill shelter so they can get adopted. The experience of watching them get taken out of my hands was very emotional because I connected to them as part of my family but it was euphoric to know that they were going to a home where they will be loved just as equally as I have loved them. I now carry around a paper with Animal control locations and numbers just in case I see a lost pet or injured animal and at times I do take animals in and care for them while their owners are in vacation. In retrospect, taking and caring for animals can be very difficult and could put a lot of strain on you but at the end of the day it's worth it and you get to save lives that can't fend for themselves. That's why I believe that I am an every day hero.
